343 Industries unveils Halo 7 featuring Master Chief with a new AI called NOVA as the Precursors return as the main antagonists.
343 Industries unveiled Halo 7 at the Xbox Developer Direct with a four-minute cinematic trailer showcasing Master Chief alongside NOVA, a new AI companion with a markedly different personality from Cortana. The environments shown range from frozen planetary surfaces to enormous Forerunner megastructures unlike anything seen in previous entries.
The Precursors return as the central antagonists, but this time the scale of their threat reaches a galactic level. The trailer suggests the Precursors possess the ability to manipulate entire planets, setting up stakes that dwarf any previous Halo storyline. Lore enthusiasts are already combing through every frame for connections to the broader Halo universe.
On the multiplayer front, 343 Industries has promised a return to the foundations that made Halo 3 and Reach beloved, featuring a fair progression system, no pay-to-win mechanics, and a new 128-player Battle Royale mode. Halo 7 is targeting a late 2025 release window on Xbox Series X|S and PC via Game Pass.
