Nintendo announces Switch 2 first-week sales surpassing 2 million units globally, with Mario Kart World as the best-selling launch title.

Nintendo Switch 2 has made history with 2 million units sold in its first week globally, surpassing the original Switch's 1.5 million first-week record. Long queues outside retail stores and sold-out online pre-orders the moment they went live reflect the enormous pent-up demand that has built over the past year.

Mario Kart World is the standout launch title, moving 1.4 million copies in its first week alone. The game introduces an Open World format to the Mario Kart franchise for the first time, offering over 200 tracks and characters that fans have never seen before in the series.

Switch 2 ships with a 1080p LCD screen with HDR support, redesigned Magnetic Joy-Con controllers, and 4K output when docked. The new NVIDIA Tegra T239 chip provides roughly 10 times the processing power of the original Switch, opening the door for developers to bring experiences previously impossible on the platform.
