Microsoft upgrades Xbox Cloud Gaming infrastructure to support 4K@60fps streaming for all Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
Microsoft has completed the global rollout of 4K 60fps support for Xbox Cloud Gaming following months of beta testing. The infrastructure upgrade, backed by a $2 billion investment in new server hardware worldwide, has dramatically reduced latency across all regions while enabling the jump to 4K output.
To stream at 4K, players only need a minimum 20Mbps internet connection — a notably modest requirement for the quality delivered. In markets with strong 5G infrastructure, including much of Southeast Asia, players can enjoy the full 4K experience over mobile data without requiring a fixed broadband connection.
Microsoft has also expanded Touch Control support to over 100 game titles with completely reworked layouts designed for smartphone and tablet play. This is a particularly significant move for Asian markets where mobile gaming is dominant, positioning Xbox Cloud Gaming as a genuine alternative to native mobile titles.
